The Energetic-Emotional Causes of Anxiety, Panic & Depression

With more mandated regulations, increased quarantine restrictions, and seasonal changes, many are finding themselves succumbing to interactionless indoor isolation more than ever.

The toll of all of this on the mental health of society will be grave, so I wanted to share my very intimate exploration of the energetic causes of anxiety, panic, and depression. Unfortunately these topics are still relatively taboo… yet it’s something almost half (42%) of U.S. adults were facing in 2020 (statista).

I’ve struggled with anxiety and panic my entire life. Though these feelings are felt by everyone at some point, we always feel alone when we’re going through it. This post aims to help you understand what’s going on beneath the surface.


6.8 million adults have generalized anxiety and 6 million adults have panic disorders. I am included in both groups and experience chronic, sometimes debilitating, anxiety which often results in panic.

Panic attacks and anxiety is no jokewhen you’re in the midst of a panic attack, death seems imminent and fear overcomes the mind, body, and physical senses. A spiral of negative thoughts can overtake us and cause us to slip into a downward spiral of mounting negative thought. 99% of the time, there is NO legitimate physiological issue and the episode is simply a manufactured story the ego is telling us which we choose to entertain and empower.

I’ve struggled with panic for years. When I am overcome by a panic attack, I cannot distinguish between a legitimate physiological issue and my mind’s incessant stories about what may be going wrong. Am I dehydrated? Did I take too many different vitamins? Am I having an allergic reaction to something? Is my heart failing? Is my throat closing up? Is this just stress?

Underlying Fear

Anxiety is fear trying to be expressed. Panic is fear-emotions manifesting in the physical, all brought about by the thoughts, beliefs, actions, circumstances, and scenarios we choose to empower with our energy. When you neglect to recognize this fear over time, chronic anxiety can lead to depression and bodily decay.

What can you do to combat this? Be mindful of how you harbor fear. Fear is not always obvious — sometimes it is covertly manifested in the body until it spills over.

Though it sounds obvious, constant inner work and self awareness is the best way to combat anxiety. We are responsible for choosing fearlessness and love at all times.


When we are depressed, it’s as if the mind, body, and spirit goes to sleep. To me, “depression” could stand for a “Deep Rest I am In.”

As I describe with those I work with, depression is often characterized by a vague but chronic sense that our life should’ve or could’ve turned out differently (better) had we only made different choices in the past.

Depression is an ambiguous sense of undefined pressure on the self by the self. It is discontentment stemming from distraction, characterized by a subtle but persistent sense of lack. It’s usually caused by a prolonged, distorted set of assumptions, beliefs, and feelings all generated by the ego whereby it has convinced us that our life is off track — that we have missed out on what could be, should be, or may have been… had we only made different choices.

There is also ALWAYS a time-based component to depression. The ego continuously pushes this ever-mutating agenda of this idealized version of who it wants you to be, of a better life ‘out there.’ When you succumb to being PULLED into past or future, depression is likely to follow.

Observing Pain & Suffering
Alleviate depression by bringing awareness of what’s really bogging you down to your conscious awareness through mindless presence. If you already know the cause of the imbalance, you can isolate that thing/circumstance/event from who you really are. Your ‘being’ level can never be harmed. When you can OBSERVE those feelings of heaviness, depression, and sadness you automatically  create distance between the emotions and you… or your awareness. Then you can realize that you are NOT your suffering!

We are all revisiting individual recurring patterns, privately purging cellular and karmic density which no longer serves for the higher frequencies that are escorting us into a new reality. As we painfully parse through the subtle themes of our lives, we shed the tears and blood which are hard-earned evidence of our re-emergence into love. Navigating the difficult diversion from God-Source love in the form of depressive and anxious feelings is among the noblest feats we can take on.

One of the biggest things which has been reiterated to me over the past year is a cliche: health is wealth. Wellness, homeostasis, and overall health — on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level — should ALWAYS be our #1 priority in life.

Overall, the best way to combat mental health issues is deep inner work, along with therapy, meditation and honest inner-reflection of the underlying cause. Feel EVERYTHING as deeply as possible in real-time. Don’t resist what IS. When we feel it ALL, the good and the bad, we allow for maximum expansion, growth, and evolution. We can strengthen our consciousness when we face life in all its facets, understanding that it is happening for us and not to us.
